MMFF 2012 inilunsad na


 IT’S a twin event for MMFF that was held last Tuesday night, February 23, at the roof deck of Emar Suites  in Mandaluyong city.
Ang nabanggit na twin event ay bale formal launching ng MMFF 2012 at appreciation dinner for those who made MMFF 2011 a big success.
            Dito ay ini-announce ni MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino na sa May 23, 2012 na ang deadline para sa application forms and scripts.
            Sa June 5, 2012 naman ang scheduled announcement ng selected scripts.
            Sey pa ni Atty. Tolentino, “Once again aniya, the filmfest will also encourage more participation from schools and colleges for the students Short Film entries to the New Wave section.”
            Isinabay na rin sa naturang twin event ang pagbibigay ng cash prizes sa mga nagsipagwagi sa last year’s filmfest, sa pangunguna ng “Asiong Salonga”  na humakot ng 11awards.
            Ang ilan pang kalahok sa MMFF 2011 na nanalo ng parangal ay ang “Yesterday, Today,Tomorrow,” “Segunda Mano,” “Panday 2,” “My House Husband,” “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” at 
“Shake, Rattle & Roll 13.”
            Sa New Wave – Independent Film section, ang Best Picture ay ang “Pintakasi.”  Ang iba pang winners ay ang  “HIV,” “Mate,” “Payaso,” “Biyahe ni Barbie,”  at “Speechless.”
            MMFF 2011 grossed an all-time high of 636, 792,509.57.
            Although nationwide in billing, the filmfest is actually nationwide in scope, its entries opening in Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines. 
            It opens Dec. 25 and runs until the first week of January.
            Atty. Francis Tolentino, chairman of the Metro Manila Development Authority, is the
over-all chairman of the filmfest, with Jesse Ejercito as executive chairman.
            Ang Metro Manila Film Festival  ay nasa ika-38 taon na,  itinatag ni dating Pang. Joseph Estrada noong siya pa ang mayor ng San Juan.
            Through the years, the filmfest had shown movies which became classics, winning accolades here and abroad.
            Kabilang na rito ang “Himala” ni Ishmael Bernal, “Insiang” at “Bona” ni Lino Brocka, “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon” ni Eddie Romero, “Brutal” at Jose Rizal” ni
Marilou Diaz-Abaya, “Kisapmata” ni Mike de Leon, “Burlesk Queen” ni Celso Ad Castillo, “Andrea” ni Gil Portes,  “Minsa’y  Isang Gamugamo” ni Lupita Aquino Kashihawara, “Bakya Mo Neneng” ni Augusto Buenaventura, at “Tanging Yaman” ni Laurice Guillen.
            The list is by no means complete.
            Beneficiaries of the filmfest include Film Academy of the Philippines and the Motion
Pictures Anti-Film Piracy Council.
Ilan sa mga kilalang celebrities na namataan namin sa nabanggit na twin event ngMMFF ay si Dingdong Dantes na fresh na fresh that night, ang producer ng Best Picture sa Short Films category na si Gov. Imee Marcos, Direk Buboy Tan, at MTRCB Chairman Mary
Grace Poe Llamanzares.
            Si Ms. Boots Anson Roa ang nagsilbing host ng nasabing twin event. 
Nagbigay naman ng intermission number si Gloc 9 with Denise.  Kinanta nila ang theme
song ng “Manila Kingpin:  The Asiong Salonga Story” na “Hari ng Tondo.”
