40th MMFF Awards Night Winners

The results of 40th MMFF Awards Night, I presume, is one of the most (if  not the most) credible of all the MMFF Awards Night.

As everyone expects,  Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo is the biggest winner with 8 awards, including the Best Festival Picture.

Unfortunately, it failed to win any of the acting awards at stake which went to English Only Please, Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles and My Big Bossing.

Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado (lead stars of English Only, Please) were adjudged as the Festival's Best Actor and Actress respectively.

Lotlot de Leon and Joey Marquez (both stars of Kubot:  The Aswang Chronicles) were declared as the Festival's Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively while Ryzza Mae Dizon of My Big Bossing was chosen as the Festival's Best Child Performer.

It's good to note that the box-office take of the 8 official entries wasn't one of the criteria in selecting the three Best Pictures of the Festival which they had done in the past.
Edu Manzano and Kris Aquino hosted the awards night which was held at the PICC and aired on ABS-CBN last Saturday, December 27.
