KEVIN Louie Platon Alas (born November 13, 1991) is a
Filipino professional basketball player who currently plays for the NLEX Road
Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was drafted second
overall by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the 2014 PBA draft.
Early life and amateur career
Alas attended Grade School at Blessed Trinity School in Las
Piñas and began playing organized basketball when he was in the 5th grade. The
following year, he transferred to Letran where he would soon engage in more
competitive tournaments. He would eventually make the Letran Squires lineup during
his 2nd year in high school.
Along with his brother,
Junjun, and Mythical Five member John
Noble, Kevin helped lead the Squires to the NCAA Juniors Finals in 2007
where they got swept in two games by a powerhouse San Sebastian Staglets team
that featured Ryan Buenafe and Arvie Bringas. The following season,
his last with the Squires, Letran made it back to the finals setting up a
rematch with San Sebastian. But, once again, the Staglets dominated the
Squires, sweeping them again to complete a historic four-peat and a 14-0 record
(12-0 sweep in the eliminations due to the suspension and unresolved issues
with the juniors' team of PCU) in the NCAA juniors division.
But, despite two heartbreaking defeats, Kevin did not fail
to impress talent scouts as a number of schools were interested in acquiring
his services for the college game. Ironically, Alas tried out with an old
Letran rival, De La Salle University where he practiced for nearly two months
before making his decision on which school to play for in college. Without any
advice or influence from anybody, including his father, who gave him the free
hand to select a school, Kevin personally decided that it would be best for him
to stay with Letran.
He played his college ball with the Letran Knights and after
their loss to San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA Season 88 championship game, he
elected to forgo his final playing year to join Gilas Pilipinas. During his
time with Gilas, he was a key part of the team's gold medal finish in the 2013
SEA Games and a bronze medal finish in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup.
He also played for the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA
D-League and led the team to several championships. By the time his D-League
stint is over, he then decided to apply for 2014 PBA draft along with his elder
brother, Junjun.
Professional career
Alas was drafted 2nd overall by the Rain or Shine Elasto
Painters during the 2014 PBA draft, and signed a three-year deal with the team.
He was groomed to take over the starting point guard spot since at that time
when he was drafted, starting point guard Paul Lee requested to be traded to
another team. However, when Lee decided to stay with Rain or Shine, Alas became
expendable, thus they decided to trade him to NLEX for a 2015 first round pick.
He was traded once again, this time to NLEX's sister team Talk 'N Text Tropang
Texters, in a deal that sent Niño
Canaleta to the Road Warriors, with Blackwater Elite as conduit which
acquired Larry Rodriguez and 2015
1st round draft pick of Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters.
On August 25, 2015, Alas, along with forward Rob Reyes, was traded by Talk 'N Text
to Mahindra Enforcers in exchange for Troy
Rosario. He was then quickly traded back to Talk 'N Text's sister team NLEX
Road Warriors in exchange for forwards Niño Canaleta and Aldrech Ramos.
Personal life
He is the second of four siblings. His father is his former
coach in college, former Letran coach and current Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas. He is also the younger
brother of fellow 2014 draft class mate Junjun
Alas.

MARLON Alexander Stöckinger is a Filipino-Swiss racing
driver, who raced for Status Grand Prix in the 2012 GP3 Series and currently
driving for Lotus F1 Team Juniors in the 2013 World Series by Renault.
Early career
Prior to joining the Formula Renault series, Stöckinger won
titles and honors from international derbies such as the Formula BMW Pacific
2008 Championships, the Senior Rotax Max World Finals 2007, the Asian Karting
Championship 2006, the Junior Rotax Max-World Finals 2005 and the Philippine
Shell Super Karting Series 2002.
He participated at the 2008 Formula BMW Europe
season - the championship's maiden season after the merger of the British and
German series — as a guest driver, racing at the Hungaroring (21st and 23rd
place), Valencia Street Circuit (15th and 23rd place) and at the Circuit de
Spa-Francorchamps (20th and 21st).
Formula Renault (2009–2010)
Stöckinger made his debut at the UK championship in 2009 at
18 years of age, joining other newcomers including Harry Tincknell, Matias
Laine and Will Stevens. He arrived 20th on his debut at Brands Hatch and
eventually finished 25th in the championship with 56 points. His best result
was an eleventh place at round eight at Oulton Park.
The following season began at Thruxton on 3 April 2010 and
will end on 10 October at Brands Hatch, after twenty rounds held in England,
and for the first time since 2006, Scotland. After arriving 10th in his
first race of the year, the Filipino-Swiss driver was able to finish third at
Rockingham Motor Speedway, his best result ever in two seasons.
At the Croft
Circuit (round 8) he started from pole and finished the race first, becoming
the first Filipino to have won a formula race in Europe. The performance was
then followed by a second place in the same circuit, behind Lewis Williamson.
GP3 Series (2011–2012)
The following year, Stöckinger moved to the GP3 series,
where he suited up for Atech CRS Grand Prix in the 2011 GP3 Series season.
Going into his second year in the GP3 Series, the Filipino
was assessed by Status Grand Prix during their autumn tests. Stöckinger was
regularly featured in the Top 5 of the time sheets at Barcelona, Valencia and
Jerez tests, and impressed the team with his performances.
In February 2012,
Stöckinger left Atech GP and signed to join Status Grand Prix for the 2012 GP3
Series season. Stöckinger collected his first win in the 2012 GP3 Series at
Monaco and set his first pole position and the fastest lap of the race.
Formula Renault 3.5 Series (2013-2015)
Stockinger at the Globe Tattoo launch in Glorietta 4,
Makati, May 2013.
He became a member of the Lotus F1 Team in February 2013,
serving as one of seven junior team drivers. Stockinger and the other six young
drivers will be supported by Lotus in all areas such as driving skills,
physical fitness, health and nutrition, social and mental development, business
ethics and principals, as well as PR training as a preparation for their future
careers.
It was confirmed that Stöckinger will stay and drive for
Lotus F1 on 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 season alongside newly recruited Matthieu
Vaxiviere of France and former French F4 Champion.
